Hit'90s girl groupTLC was slated to perform on Day 1 of the Boston Calling music festival — but had to bow out hours before showtime due to an "unexpected medical circumstance." The annual music festival broke the news via their Instagram account on Friday, May 23. "Due to an unexpected medical circumstance, TLC will no longer be performing at Boston Calling tonight," the statement read. Details of the medical issue were not disclosed. While some fans made (arguably distasteful) quips about the health incident — using puns involving TLC's biggest hits "Waterfalls" and "No Scrubs" — plenty of concertgoers were left devastated that their faves weren't performing. "i just screamed NOO on the train:(," one person wrote in the comments section, presumably on their way to the Harvard Athletic Complex, where the festival is held. "NOOO," another fan wrote in all caps. "That's a huge bummer," a third user wrote, while another declared: "BOOOOOO." (After the death of their third bandmate,Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes— who died in a 2002 car crash — TLC went on a hiatus before reforming as a duo.) However, the group has previously had to cancel concerts last minute due to a health issue. Last summer, TLC were forced to cancel several shows in a row afterT-Boz was hospitalizedwith a "severe abdominal blockage." Hours after Boston Calling's announcement of TLC's cancelation on Friday, the festival updated their lineup with the group's replacement. "BOSTON, we're back! We've got an amazing Friday ahead," they wrote. "Please take note of the schedule updates: TLC will no longer be performing, and we're excited to welcome Boston's own [Dalton & The Sheriffs] to the lineup. 💥." Friday night's show also included performances fromLuke Combs,T-Pain, andSheryl Crow. The weekend-long festival continues today, Saturday, May 24, with performances fromAvril Lavigne, Fall Out Boy,James Bay, All Time Low and more. The festival will close out on Sunday, May 25, with heavy hitters like Dave Matthews Band, Vampire Weekend, Sublime, Public Enemy and more.
