The actress recently revealed that her two French bulldogs, Wolfie and Iris, hung out with Cruise and then proceeded to fart all over him when they watched movies with the rest of the film's cast. Atwell explained that Cruise often invited them all to his home during production of the two-part action flick so that they could build up a shared language. "The first time he said, 'Oh, I hear you have dogs. You should bring them over,'" Atwell recalled to hostJimmy Fallonduring Thursday's episode ofThe Tonight Show. "And I thought, 'Well that's quite a good test of character,' because if a dog likes you, then you're a pretty solid guy, I think, right? They don't lie." "I brought them over and they loved him," she said, "and they insisted on sitting on him for the duration of the movie." Which all sounds very sweet — until Atwell turned to the late night audience and informed them that French bulldogs happen to be "very potent farters." Wolfie and Iris proved they were no exception. "We're watching [the movie], and they were sitting on [Cruise], and they were farting on him the whole way through the movie," she confessed. "And I'm sat there and I'm like, 'Oh my God.' And I'm looking around and there's some other people who are gagging." Atwell said that Cruise, ever the professional, remained very "discreet" about all the doggy flatulence coming his way and simply continued watching the movie without any fuss. She, however, was so mortified that she knew she had to acknowledge it and apologize for Wolfie and Iris' actions. "He's enjoying the movie and eating popcorn and at one point I thought, 'I've got to say something. I'm so embarrassed,'" the actress said. "There was a lull in the film and I just turned to him at one point and I went, 'Sorry for all the tootin'!'" Sadly, she added, that just made everything worse. "He was like, 'Uhh, yeah,' and went back to the movie," she said. "And I was like, 'That's more awkward than the farting!'" Atwell and Cruise reprise their roles as professional thief Grace and operative Ethan Hunt, respectively, in the franchise's recently released (and perhaps last?) movie,Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning. Shepreviously toldEntertainment Weeklythat the "hairiest" moment during filmingwas when a polar bear came into close proximity of its Arctic set. "He [the bear] was very curious, but thankfully for us, looked well fed," she said. "He looked majestic." Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoningis in theaters now.
